JO DEE MESSINA CONCERT TO BE HELD AT LIBERTY THEATER

By admincw on Oct 19, 2010 | In news, music

The Eagle 103.9 and Columbia Memorial Hospital present country star Jo Dee Messina performing live Saturday, Oct. 23. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m., at the Liberty Theater, 1203 Commercial St.

The "Music Room Series" concert is modeled after the music room in Messina's home, where she sings, writes and rehearses, and will include a simple stage with piano and a few backing musicians. Each show in the tour will be distinctive in that Messina will play songs old and new, take requests, answer questions and give fans a new insight into the stories behind the hits.

Follow up:

Messina is celebrating the release of her sixth album, "Unmistakable," her first new material in more than six years. The album was entirely co-written and co-produced by Messina and displays all the range, versatility and exuberance that have long made her a fan favorite and have brought her success both on record and on stage. What's more, it is a project for which she had complete artistic freedom.

"It was a relief," she says. "They really wanted to hear what I have to say on this record, and it made the creative process extremely enjoyable."

This latest album brings the Massachusetts-born singer to the heights of the genre she has loved since she was a little girl. She has sold five million albums, had nine No. 1 singles, earned two Grammy nominations in addition to awards by the CMA and ACM, and seen her albums go platinum ("Burn") and double platinum ("I'm Alright"). The latter made history, as three consecutive singles reached the No. 1 spot for multiple weeks on the Billboard singles chart, making her the first female artist ever to earn that distinction.
