JO DEE MESSINA GETS "THE EARLY SHOW" ROCKING

By admincw on Apr 10, 2000 | In news

Double Platinum Redhead Hits CBS' Morning Show's Concert Series June 19th

Nashville: Waking up has never been hard for Jo Dee Messina - and that's a good thing! Because on Monday, June 19th, the fiery young woman who was Billboard's #1 Most Played Female Country Artist of 1999 and the proud owner of the double platinum I'm Alright rolls into Manhattan as part of CBS' "The Early Show"'s summer concert series.

"The people at CBS and 'The Early Show' have always been so supportive of me," says Messina of her Manhattan wake-up call.

Follow up:

"It's so cool that they have asked me to be a part of their Summer Concert Series. I love New York and I'm excited about performing in the street; it's a great way for me to share my music with the folks in the city!"

Messina appeared on CBS' "The Morning" last year as a triple Academy of Country Music Awards nominee (Top Female, Album for I'm Alright and Top New Female) - and closed the show that next Friday as the ACM's Top New Female Vocalist. When CMA's rolled around, the show tapped Messina's ebullient personality for their backstage correspondent for the Country Music Association Awards. Though Messina didn't win the Female Vocalist of the Year award she was nominated for, the Holliston, Massachusetts-born and -based singer scored the prestigious Horizon Award, given annually to recognize career growth.

Her June 19th "Early Show" concert appearance continues the roll Messina's on with "That's The Way," the lead single from her eagerly anticipated BURN. The song, debuted as a performance on the Academy of Country Music Awards, satellited to country radio that night and already sitting at #33* on Radio & Records and #37* on Billboard at its add date, was written by Holly Lamar and Annie Roboff after the two women had been discussing Messina's uncanny gift for bouncing back from the tough stuff life sometimes deals you.

With a new studio right on 5th Avenue -- right next to the famed FAO Schwarz toy store -- the concert series is a good way for CBS' "The Early Show" to bring something fresh to midtown. And it gets the week off to a killer start, too!

Look for BURN in-stores August 1 -- and "That's The Way" on any country radio station right now. It's turning into the rocketship hit of the summer.
