Fan favorites Phil Vassar and Jo Dee Messina will kick off 2008 CMA Music Festival on the Greased Lightning® Daytime Stages Thursday, June 5 (10:00 AM/CT). Each artist's performance is sure to rev up the crowd for all the non-stop excitement happening at the four-day event, taking place in Downtown Nashville through Sunday, June 8.

Country music star Jo Dee Messina sang the National Anthem at Game 4 of the Predators/Red Wings series on Wednesday night in Nashville. Prior to the game, NashvillePredators.com sat down with the musician to talk about her love of hockey.

NashvillePredators.com: Growing up in Boston, when did you first start following hockey?
Jo Dee Messina: Hockey, before I even knew what it was. Growing up in Massachusetts, you definitely have to know all of your sports: hockey, basketball, football, and baseball. And you have to be a fan or else they send you out of the state. more!
 

   

COUNTRY GIRLS ROCK CHEVY'S FREEDOM OVER TEXAS

 



The annual Fourth of July event has lined up a star studded trio of country females to headline this year's edition.  Miranda Lambert,  Sara Evans, Jo Dee Messina will take the stage at Eleanor Tinsley Park in Buffalo Bayou.

Consider it a gift when an entertainer gives a little something extra during an interview. That’s what it was like when country music singer Jo Dee Messina broke into song during a recent telephone interview from her home in Nashville, Tenn.

Answering a question about vocal exercises, Messina, who performs two shows at the Wagon Wheel Theatre in Warsaw on Saturday, said the band always gets together before performing to warm up; otherwise, it’s not unusual for her to just sing to herself.

Country star Jo Dee Messina has scored nine No. 1 singles; been honored by The Country Music Association, The Academy of Country Music and The Grammy Awards; and was the first female country artist to score three multiple-week No.1 songs from the same album. Despite all that, she's not resting on her laurels, and instead is looking ahead to her upcoming release "Unmistakable."

"This album is phenomenal," Messina told LiveDaily after returning from a vigorous run. "When I turned it in, Curb [Records] said it was the best album I ever turned in. I was like, 'Woo hoo!'"

Jo Dee Messina performed at the historic Ryman Auditorium last night, Wednesday March 20th, with Sam Moore, Wynonna Judd, Travis Tritt, and Lorrie Morgan, to raise money for the Lili Claire Family Resource Center in partnership with Meharry Medical College, which will open its doors in 2008.   The night included numerous standing ovations from the sold out crowd, who included Alison Krauss, John Waite and Bo Bice.

Jo Dee Messina has generally been regarded as one of country music's Type-A personalities: driven, energetic and passionate about her work. But developments in her personal life have created what she believes is a major change for the better.

Jo Dee went through a very public engagement several years ago that didn't work out. Eventually, she got engaged again with much less fanfare, and she got married in October to Chris Deffenbaugh just two weeks after completing her second marathon.
