Double Platinum, Grammy-Nominated Country Singer SRO 1st Weekend

Nashville (02/13/01): Known for doing and saying almost anything onstage, double platinum country sensation Jo Dee Messina kicked off the first weekend of her first-ever headlining tour with the audiences standing on their feet -- in part because of the energy level generated in the venues and in part because the SRO (Standing Room Only) status of the three shows left absolutely no room to spare.

Fan Fair 2001 has come and gone, but the memories from that week won't soon be forgotten. Jo Dee had the opportunity to catch up with fans during her 5th annual Fan Club Party, held this year at the Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville. Later the same day, Jo Dee burned up Adelphia Coliseum during her performance on the Curb show in front of thousands of fan fair goers. And on Saturday and Sunday, amidst a crowd so big you couldn't even see her unless she stood on the table, Jo Dee signed autographs and had her picture taken with fans! Jo Dee Performing At TNN & CMT Country Weekly Music Awards

   

Lee Ann Womack and football great Terry Bradshaw will host the June 13 TNN & CMT Country Weekly Music Awards. CMT and TNN will simulcast the former TNN Country Weekly Music Awards. The three-hour program will be telecast live from Nashville's Gaylord Entertainment Center. Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Jo Dee Messina, Jessica Andrews, Toby Keith, John Michael Montgomery, Montgomery Gentry, Lonestar and Phil Vassar will perform on the fan-voted awards show. (CMT and TNN are owned by Sonicnet.com's parent company, Viacom).

CMT has been on the road as the official media sponsor of Messina's first-ever headlining "Burn Tour 2001." Messina, Davis and Ross were live on the red carpet to talk to country music's biggest and hottest rising stars as they arrived for the show. After the pre-show Jo Dee headed inside to perform her current single, "Downtime," on the nationally televised 36th Annual ACM Awards. CMT Has Huge Promotion On Messina Tour

 

CMT wasn't quite ready for the 63,000 entries they got for their Jo Dee Messina-driven "Money To Burn" promotion.

The two winners went to Reno this weekend where they got to spend time with the double-platinum entertainer, deluxe accommodations and $5,000! Jo Dee Day was CMT's highest rated programming to date this year. And the 63,000 entries were landmark as well.

"It's an honor people respond like this. It's all about country radio playing the songs and the fans loving them," Jo Dee commented.

   

Final Nominees Announced For TNN Country Weekly Music Awards

 

Nashville, TN (March 19 - PRNewswire) -- TNN and Country Weekly magazine today announced the final nominations in the 12 fan-voted categories for the TNN Country Weekly Music Awards.

Jo Dee Messina is nominated for Female Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for Burn.

Winners will be announced June 13, 2001 at the start of Fan Fair week in Nashville, TN.

Today, the fiery redhead is at the Franklin Fire Department for a cover shoot for Country Weekly's Feb 22nd issue, which will be on stands on Feb. 6th -- two days before the Burn 2001 Tour opens in South Bend, Indiana.

"It's exciting to know that this tour is creating so much interest," Messina says with a happy laugh. "We want to make sure to take care of all the people that are interested in it before the tour kicks off."

Jo Dee Messina's eyes flashed with excitement as she told us about her upcoming "Burn" tour. "Everything for The Burn tour is brand new. We're carrying full production, dancers, maybe some surprises here and there. We start rehearsals January 22nd and we have a week of just band rehearsals and a week of dance rehearsals and we run the whole show a few times and we rehearse right up to February 5th when we head to South Bend, Indiana where the first show is. And then we do a run-through the day before with me and Rascal Flatts, then the first show is on the 7th."

CMT has dubbed Sunday, Jan. 28 Super Showcase Sunday, the day football fans traditionally know as Super Bowl Sunday. For the fourth consecutive year, CMT will present a 10-hour marathon of the popular interview and performance series CMT Showcase, featuring past Showcase Artists in in-depth interviews and exclusive acoustic performances. Super Showcase Sunday will be telecast Sunday, Jan. 28, from noon - 10 p.m. ET.
